EDSkills Language School mainly provides English classes for adults who are 18 or older. We do not accept any students under the age of 16 on any of our courses and do not provide 24-hour supervision. However, we do welcome students who are age 16+ to study in language classes with adults.
The UK Law classifies all individuals under the age of 18 as children. If you are a student who is 16-18 years old and wish to study with us, then there are a few extra steps that need to be completed to ensure your safety and wellbeing during your time with us.
Students will be in an adult environment when they are in class and when they are out of class. All of our staff at EDSkills Language School are Enhanced DBS checked (Disclosure and Barring Service), and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students under the age of 18, all staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.
Accomodation for Under 18's
All students under the age of 18 must stay in Homestay accommodation booked through EDSkills with Hosts International for the full length of their course unless suitable alternative accommodation provision has been made by the student’s parents which must be confirmed in writing. Students placed in homestay accommodation will be subject to designated times to return to their homestay in the evening. We would not expect individual students aged under 18 to stay unsupervised in a hotel or guest house.
24 hrs Emergency Contact Number
Students under 18 are issued with a 24-hour emergency contact number. (+44 7399630199) We shall provide all students and their parents/guardians with a 24-hour emergency contact number. Student’s need to provide the School’s administration with a 24 hour contact number of their parents/ guardians or nominated representative and next of kin details, based in the UK.
Parents/guardians are required to sign independent travel consent forms / parental declaration form and also inform the school of any medical information regarding the student.
Security measures for Under 18's
The School provides a safe learning environment and premises with first aid trained staff, fire safety precautions, CCTV cameras, a coded front door and website restriction filters. There is a Welfare officer who will be available during School times to offer support and discuss any issues that you may have during your time here.
